Last night I had the pleasure of attending a sneak preview of the Art Institute of Portland's 2010 fashion show. To quote the press release:
The Art Institute of Portland’s annual fashion show is the College’s largest fundraiser for The Education Foundation’s Creative Arts Scholarship fund, a scholarship program benefiting students currently enrolled at The Art Institute of Portland. To date, the Education Foundation has awarded approximately $100,000 to students attending The Art Institute of Portland, 100% of those dollars being raised in Portland. In addition to supporting continued education, The Art Institute of Portland is proud to announce new elements of the show including canned food collection benefiting the Oregon Food Bank and a pre-show Silent Auction.
There's a lot of young talent at the Ai and not just in fashion. The event was catered by some of its culinary students who served lots of delicious hors d'oeuvres I did not understand. Chocolates that tasted like clouds! Fluffy red pepper desserts! Shots of watercress soup! I won't be able to afford any restaurant these people end up in but I'm all for scholarships to help up-and-coming food talent.
The event is on June 5th at the Oregon Convention Center with a silent auction at 6:30 and the show at 8:00. Of course, there's other super exciting things happening that night but we can't hog all the attention. Check out a few of the looks after the jump!
